Payson is a town in northern Gila County, Arizona, United States. Its location puts it almost exactly in the geographic center of Arizona.

At 5000 ft payson is in the transition zone. The transition zone divide the desert zone and the high mountains zone. It has been called "The Heart of Arizona". Payson also has The largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the country.

Payson and its surrounding area is at the heart of Mogollon Rim Country which is often called the “Alpine Region” of Arizona.

In Payson there’s so much to do and so much to see. Enjoy picturesque golf, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping. If you’re a bird-watcher, you’re in for a treat with migratory Canadian geese, a variety of wild ducks and even bald eagles that nest in the Payson area.

Payson is known for its rodeo which is the oldest continuous rodeo in the world.

Payson has two large parks, Green Valley Park and Rumsey Park. A community swimming pool is located near Rumsey Park and the town hosts free outdoor concerts in the summer. Other activities include intramural sports like baseball and football. Payson also has a small skatepark.

 Payson has an atypical version of a Mediterranean climate with a dry period in early summer followed by heavy monsoonal thunderstorms and rain from frontal cloudbands in the cooler months. Like more typical Mediterranean climates, however, forest fires tend to be extremely prevalent during dry summer periods.

Payson ist eine Stadt im Gila County im US- Bundesstaat Arizona mit ca. 18'000 Einwohnern. Payson liegt im Herzen von Arizona und liegt auf der Grenze, welche die Wüste und das Hochgebirge trennt. Hier herrscht ein untyipisches Mittelmeerklima, mit einer Trockenperiode im früher Sommer, gefolgt von starken Gewittern und Stürmen. Während der trockenen Sommerzeit gibt es häufig Waldbrände.

Es gibt so viel zu tun und zu sehen in Payson. Man kann golfen, fischen, jagen, campen, es gibt viele gute Restaurants und ein kleines Kino. Ausserdem kann man in Payson wunderbare Sonnenuntergänge beobachten und der Himmel ist oft sehr klar, sodass man einen unglaublichen Sternenhimmel bestaunen kann.

Payson ist berühmt für sein Rodeo, dass jedes Jahr stattfindet und das älteste bestehende Rodeo in der Welt ist.

Man findet zwei grosse Parks, Green Valley Park und Rumsey Park. Ausserdem gibt es ein Freibad und im Sommer finden Konzerte statt.
